As a result of our long-term trust and collaboration with the Swedish building materials retail network ByggMax, we were invited to participate in an extensive project aimed at creating over 250 DIY guides for Nordic customers. Working closely with a Swedish-based expert in Scandinavian building techniques and best practices, we contributed to the development of 3D models for a wide range of home and garden building scenarios. This enabled us to create both static visuals for the DIY guides and animated content for ByggMax’s YouTube channel.
What sets this project apart is the innovative approach we took. Unlike most DIY projects, which rely on real-life video recordings, capturing the construction process on actual building sites—complete with the inherent mess and limitations of live filming—our method offered a unique advantage. Using 3D visualization, we were able to showcase processes that are typically invisible or difficult to capture in real-life scenarios. In many cases, this virtual technique allowed us to illustrate cross-sections, layers, and other abstract concepts of materials and techniques, providing a level of clarity that traditional filming methods cannot achieve.
Additionally, the entire visual library was developed with a cohesive and distinctive style and color palette specifically for this project, creating a consistent “branding” throughout. This makes the library not only visually unique but also the largest and most comprehensive collection of its kind in the Scandinavian media market.
